Add ons, information, how to on Raspberry Pi3 capability and just over all how to use it. Your a good send... I've been looking for someone to show a video like this for years. I couldn't find any help. I had this thing and had no idea how to fix it much less use it. If you can help with a few of my questions thru here or email I would be so grateful. Have a great day. Thanks again.

Can I use ANY wireless keyboard/mouse pad or I specifically have to use one that is capable to work with my specific raspberry pi only?
Antonio Cachia (8 months ago)
If i have a brand new Raspberry Pi 2b, Which is empty and never been used, What shall I do, install OpenElec like this video? Because when i see new installation videos they only install Raspbian, Shall i just install Kodi (OpenElec) ?
Kyle Dulay (8 months ago)
Yup, that should be just fine

Kyle Dulay (10 months ago)
Glad you got it figured out
Jeremy Blaauw (10 months ago)
Tech Fnatic I found another way to do it, and then i realized that my SD card was indeed corrupt. Bought a new one and it now works great. Thank you!
Kyle Dulay (10 months ago)
Does the computer see your SD card? If not, the SD card is probably corrupt
Dev363 Patel (10 months ago)
Can u turn it off
Kyle Dulay (10 months ago)
Yeah just unplug the pi
Xavier Britz (1 year ago)
Do you need any programs on the raspberry pi before you start. Can i go to a shop an buy a new one and do what you did or is there some prep files.
karm82h (1 year ago)
Hi my kodi doesn't work anymore, I wonder if I have to update the software and how? It was installed a few years back and not really used..
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
That's very possible, just follow my guide and reinstall it, should only take you a few minutes if you've done it before
Cam Audet (1 year ago)
it says access denied when trying to load image thru rufus
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
Make sure you're an admin on the computer and your antivirus isn't blocking the ISO file

DaCheese (1 year ago)
Hello. Is there any additional hardware required for this?
Gurjeet Saini (1 year ago)
Can we use a wired mouse/keyboard on this? Or does it have to be wireless like yours
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
Nope, everything shown in the vid is all you need. SD card, keyboard, mouse and the Pi
PaneXz VRCMonika (1 year ago)
My pi won't start
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
It just needs to be plugged in so it can power up, if it's already plugged in maybe confirm the SD card is in properly/works?
David Woolery (1 year ago)
Thanks for the video, super easy to follow. What kind of keyboard/mouse are you using?
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
Thanks for watching, I'm using something like this on the raspberry pi: https://www.amazon.com/Rii-Wireless-Keyboard-Touchpad-Rechargable/dp/B00Z81U3YY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491080563&sr=8-1&keywords=kodi+keyboard

Thankyou, great video
Dannyel Pamplona (1 year ago)
Thanks for your video! ] Question: Can i put the Openelec at the same RPI 3 that already has the Retropie, and both work?
Svenska Nördar (1 year ago)
Dannyel Neves Sorry for really late answer, but you can install Kodi inside retropie.
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
There may be a way to partition the SD card so that you could have both on the card but I am unsure of that. The only way I could think of doing it is having Kodi on one SD card and Retropie on the other, then just swapping the cards out when you need to use one or the other

If you dont want to buy the micro sd to usb, you can also use your android phone. Plug your micro sd and after plug it usb.

Wiley Boles (1 year ago)

im new to this rasberry thing i was wondring y does ppl buy the rasberry for kodi does it do alot better
Denise Rhodus (1 year ago)
Tech Fnatic oh ok thank u so much that helped alot
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
You could just buy a dedicated Kodi TV box off of Amazon but the difference is that the raspberry pi is a cheaper alternative than most Kodi TV boxes that you can purchase, although it might not be as powerful. Another reason people use their Raspberry Pi's as Kodi boxes is because the raspberry pi can be re-purposed down the road and be used for something else, so you're not stuck with a Kodi box forever, you can just wipe the SD card and make something else out of your pi. Hope that answers your question.
omar aitcheson (1 year ago)
need kodi and retropie can you help me with that thanks , great vid
Peep Beep Meme Creep (1 year ago)
just use 2 different sd cards
Bread (1 year ago)
Can I configure kodi just with a mouse or do I have to use a keyboard? Thanks for the vid.
Bread (1 year ago)
ty for the help mate.
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
Yup, it should recognize the mouse, the wireless keypad I am using in the video was recognized immediately as well
Bread (1 year ago)
Tech Fnatic thanks for the answer. But im using ethernet anyway and for the addons there is an on-screen keyboard anyway. But my question is if it recognizes the mouse automaticly in Kodi or do I have to change some options?
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
I can't say for sure but judging by the initial setup you probably need a keyboard to do things like connect to the wifi since there is no on-screen keyboard for you to type on using your mouse
Devlin Dotson (1 year ago)
Can you have Kodi and retropie on a zero and switch back between the programs???? still trying to understand how the pi works...(would you have to switch sd cards?).... :)
Devlin Dotson (1 year ago)
yes..you can install kodi from retropie...
f3rfra (1 year ago)
I was about to search/ask this same question, were you able to support retropie and kodi on same sd ?
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
Awesome, let me know how it goes, thanks for watching
Devlin Dotson (1 year ago)
yes thank you so much...just ordered two pi 3s and a pie zero...going to do an Nes cart build with the zero........Merry Christmas!!!!!
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
You can dual boot using the NOOBS operating system which you can find on the raspberry pi website (https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/) or you can just put the 2 different programs on 2 different SD cards and swap them each time. Both methods work, hope this helps

How can I stream files from my PC to my Pi over my home network? I have tried countless forums and youtube vids and nothing works. Kodi is junk, the only reliable way to do it is to hook a harddrive up directly with the files on it. This things been pissing me off for days but the harddrive I ordered for it is still shipping to me
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
Yeah it's definitely a bit of a pain in the ass but it's always rewarding getting these things figured out and working with the pi
Steve Willcocks (1 year ago)
Tech Fnatic awesome :) thankyou. I dont know why they make these things so complicated, there is alot of potential there. I'll give plex a go :)
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
Hmm I don't have a certain answer for you but one thing I would try is creating a Plex media server, it's free and easy (https://www.plex.tv/) and then install Linux on your RasPi and install the Plex app, this will allow you to stream movies from your media server which is probably your PC to your RasPi

Say I by a brand new Pi 3 and install Kodi on it out the box, will I be able to connect to the wifi and connect a Bluetooth keyboard to it right from the Kodi settings menu or would I have to configure the wifi first on my computer using the Pi software?
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
Yes you can load Kodi on to your SD card straight out of the box. The first time you boot up Kodi it will prompt you to connect to the WiFi network and set the time on your Pi. Think of Kodi as the operating system, without an operating system you can't connect to Wifi, so you need to load Kodi onto the SD card in order to do so, hope that helps.
PUNISHER SALIN (1 year ago)
could you please be more specific on how to finish the installation after completing and saving the files on the sd card, I got lost right there! so once you put the card into the raspberry, what's the next step? and what I need to do in order to run Kodi. Thanks!
Kyle Dulay (1 year ago)
Once all the files are on the SD card you should eject it from your computer, plug it into the raspberry pi and power the raspberry pi on. The pi will automatically boot into Kodi and it will take you through the initial setup where you will connect your pi to your WiFi network, set your time, etc. Hope that helps.
