This is a great video to understand the importance of sleep! With a great animation and sequence. However, there's some info that you didn't reveal, like explaining more about the consolidation of procedural memories. But, forgetting this, this video is perfect.

I remember that one semester (still in college )where I experimented myself by avoiding all unproductive stuff and decided to study instead then get enough sleeping time (7-8 hours)...It was surprisingly effective, and my memory is a lot sharper.

I wake up at four A.M every morning to have enough time to get dressed and eat breakfast, school starts at six. Bus comes at exactly 5:30. I leave school at 2:30, but with the wait for the bus to arrive and it’s stops I don’t make it until 3, I come home, eat dinner, start studying for my daily test and any additional test, do all my homework, help my siblings, it’s 11. Healthy sleep? I wish.

Before exams I always study as much as I can. I can't let myself to sleep long. Even if I can take a short break to sleep for thirty minutes, after 20 minutes I'm waking up and keep on preparing for exams. The point is you have a lot of stress hormones in your body before exams. You need to spend them all. You just can't have normal calm sleeping knowing that you didn't learn all the material you needed to. During previous session I pushed myself so hard, so I was the best on my specialization. It's my opinion of how things work. I also think that it's not daily strategy. For real, on the third exam I was really exhausted. Such way of studying is temporary but very affective.

This is exactly why i make sure i get at least 2-3 hours of sleep even when i cram so hard for an exam. I noticed that i remember things better when i sleep, as compared to pulling an all nighter.

I suffer since 4 years because of lacking of sleep I spend my collage years tired, sick, nervious and angry. It affect on my communication and marks in exams. This is really hard even after 4 months from graduation I cant sleep early but I have to wake up early. I have nothing to do with this but I think sleeping well can make my life better.

Don't you hate it when you get to the good part of your dream, you wake up? It pisses me off. Nothing wakes you up for the entire night. Then, the second your dream starts getting interesting, the simplest noise wakes you up.

One day I was trying to learn a song kept singing along to it the whole day but still wasn’t able to remember more than 1 line by the end of the day. next day when I woke up i surprisingly knew all the lyrics, it’s like my brain memorized it while asleep.

4:49 Why sleep 3 hours for declarative and 1 hour for procedural? Is it because one sleep cycle consists of a longer REM period than Slow Wave?

My question is this: why isn't this crucial piece of information made common knowledge to everyone around the world? I'm currently reading "Why We Sleep" by Matthew Walker and honestly, I've never looked forward to sleeping as much as now. I just wish I knew about all these benefits far sooner. I think school kids should be informed about this and parents need to understand that they do need that extra sleep. It's not being lazy, it's maintaining healthy optimum brain function.
