Hi, i have a question: If i play on CS:S Zombie Escape Server, my FPS drops down under 60 at some parts. (When i look to a place, where are many counter terrorists shoot or walking).
I hear often, that css needs a stronger cpu, than a gpu.. But, my cpu (i7 920) is not fully occupied, my gpu (gtx 260) is fully occupied. The memory (1GB) of the gpu is fully occupied. And if css runs at 60FPS, it feels like 25FPS, have i the feeling.. Your Graphic Card (gtx 980) is a strong gpu and has 4 GB of VRAM, but i have seen your video and your FPS is also not high, if there are many ct´s.. If are you playing runs it smooth or is it lagging and you can not see it on the recordings? I think, i must buy a gpu with a very high VRAM, maybe the rx 480 with 8 GB, or the gtx 1070 with 8 GB, or even the titan x with 12 GB of VRAM.. I don´t know.. Can somebody help me?

No, it isnt the GPU, its the map optimization, game optimization, server settings and the amount of people on screen and bullet spray. GPU upgrades alone wont change much. I have a 980, soon to be upgraded to a 1080TI, will it change things? Not by much no. Source Engine is mostly CPU dependent and CPU's are not progressing much.
Low framerates and dips below 60 are to be expected with that game mode. CS:GO is a bit better optimized for better systems, but even then it cannot handle intense gunfire very well. !stopsound is a half solution to bring the frames up a bit.
High VRAM for gaming is only ever needed for unoptimized garbage ports, mass modding like Skyrim with 2k/4k everything and working above and beyond the resolutions 1280x720 and 1920x1080. This could all change in a matter of years.
I play at 1440P with the highest settings. Thousands of games will run better on my system than CS:S or CS:GO Zombie Escape. With a few tweaked modifications I can get 60 fps on pretty much any title that I own. CS:S/CS:GO not a chance, I have tried just about every tweak there is to boost framerates (not driveboosters or mods) they would decrease visuals.
If I was lagging it would show on the videos :D. Sometimes playing the game looks smoother than the videos, I think thats to do with rendering though, it can occasionally come out a bit choppy.
To summarise after re reading the specs you posted a newer GPU would do wonders with most games, you would also see some improvements on Source, seems to me you are being bottlenecked. GPU usage on Source should be low. I must point out though if you want a new GPU you should also look into upgrading elsewhere too, CPU/MOBO/RAM etc. A singular upgrade wont give that rig justice.

If you take the communities+population out of the equation, Source is the better of the two, many more map offerings.
In 4 years CS:GO hasnt really kicked on and produced many stellar ze maps which is a shame and the ports are still on-going :(.

CS:GO is the more populated of the two. If you have tried ze on CS:GO and like the mod but want extra maps to play Source is definitely recommended.
