Reflex Test Results

10203 ratings | 308369 views
It's a topic that I've deliberately avoided because I hate drawing conclusions from stuff where I'm a variable. But I'm happy that the findings are conclusive enough, even if I don't understand why they're as big as they are in some cases. Long story short: Lowest input lag + highest refresh rate = best reflex time. But you'll still be slower than everybody else in CS:GO. Test your reaction time here: http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime Compare display lag results here: http://www.displaylag.com/ See my review of the 180 Hz Asus here, which shows how smooth movement is at higher refresh rates: https://youtu.be/k0CVI5-sOn8 0:00 - Theory and how I tested 1:00 - 60 VS higher Hz 2:05 - Response time / ghosting 2:38 - Overdrive tested 3:28 - Input lag 4:00 - 60 Hz VS 30 4:23 - TVs and 23 Hz lololol 5:09 - Conclusion I've only covered the monitor in this video, since it seems to be the major component that can contribute to delay. i was wondering why my results were so bad 200-250 even thought i would say i have pretty decent reflexes. well, this explains it. 60fps vsync on a low tier monitor

Should've done the tests 3 times so 15 for each refresh rate and find the average of the average. That's the scientific way

My reaction time is 198ms I tried on mob too its 350ms
reNINTENDO (3 months ago)
I've always found that website kind of weird. Like, I don't think there's anything wrong with the site or the test, but it is strange how much my reaction time can change from attempt to attempt. I probably fall around the 200ms mark, but sometimes I get more like 180 while seemingly doing nothing different. Other times I get more like 230. Granted those aren't actually large differences when you get down to it, but still. I guess you touched on it, but keep in mind the input device itself. I'm using a wireless mouse, which probably isn't helping my time any.

I got 22 ms on a laptop's integrated 60hz screen because I predicted when it will turn green.
LESLEYYY (3 months ago)
This can be caused by a placebo, you should get someone to randomize the refresh rate and see then.
Rugg0064 (4 months ago)
You should have used CRU and changed it to even lower or Higher speeds

Hello, 3kliksphilip. Here are my results for two graphics modes on a cheap $90 LED monitor. (it's a really awful monitor). It should also be said that I fully expect I have a slower response time than your average human, so this cannot all be the fault of my computer or monitor. 1920x1080 @ 60hz 281ms 256ms 279ms 301ms 265ms Average = 276 1280x1024 @75hz 247ms 268ms 252ms 259ms 319ms Average = 269

I find myself performing alot worse in CS:GO these days than before. I theorized that it could be due to me using a 30hz TV as a screen and i used to use a 60hz screen. I also find myself having less fps recently going anywhere from 35 to 65 in MM. This video kinda confirmed for me that its most likely that reason im doing extra poorly in CS :o

I want to buy the Asus PG279Q it's a 2K IPS 165Hz 4ms monitor. I want to play and otger games like GTA V but mostly I play csgo, is it good for csgo? or a 1080p 144Hz monitor would be better (I want to try an IPS panel and 4ms is the best for IPS so I don't think that it will affect me)

Should of tested on a 500 hertz moniter. What a poor test you should feel ashamed of yourself. What would your mother say if she saw you talking about 60 or a 120 hertz. You would be called a console peasant and rightly so. You are a disgrace. Unsub. jk

BubbleCraftGaming (1 year ago)
What do you do if you have extremely bad reaction time (320 Ms average .-.)???
reNINTENDO (3 months ago)
It's probably input lag making the number so large. Not necessarily, but most likely. These online reaction time sites are cool, but they come with a lot more variables than physical tests. Also, it's sadly not really possible to improve your reaction time by any major amount, though caffeine might help a bit (I haven't been able to find any large studies on the subject however). All in all genetics are king here.

You forgot to turn off the 3 pre-buffered frames from the graphics card control panel... Your claim that 120Hz gives you 22 ms advantage when the frame takes just 8 ms faster is likely false. This comes from 3 pre-buffered frames x 8 ms faster each = 24 ms. So you are quite consistent at measuring 22 ms. NVIDIA lets you override this to improve latency at the expense of minor FPS hit. Not sure if AMD allows changing it.
emre1393 (1 year ago)
if you have bad internet connection (>100ms latency), refresh rate doesnt matter

Fuken fuk fuk trying to describe your real reaction time is hard --> First you need to see the thing and then your brain need to tell your hand/fingers to click AND your mouse need to tell the computer to click the button or whatever (3:28 he says this part that i cant really describe) and all of this takes a super small amout of time but it is still something so your real reaction time is when you see the Green or what ever you see pop up :) Sorry i am bad at describing things and my english is not that good either cause im from Sweden.. wops There is some more things that happen ofc but im to lazy and my comment whould be too long AND i am not that smart c;

If anybody needs to know how to turn off ghosting on the ASUS PB287q, (what I have) you have to turn "Trace Free" to 0, and that helped.

1:39 LOL xD my response time is so inconstant swinging between 200ms and 350ms I really hate to be focused and alert when I play CSGO I hate to aim and wait for the enemy to come out, It drives me nuts to be alert for 10 or 20 seconds ! I like to hide behind something and peek every two or three seconds

Your 60hz monitor may have a better input lag/response time compared to your 144 hz monitor.

wait didnt his reaction time _averages_ vary by 32 ms? thats not good for results really thats more than the difference between the highest hz reaction times average in the first test and the 60 hz reaction times average in the comparison to 30 hz, and even nearly the difference between the 180 and 60 hz results in the first test alone o.O

I went from an 80Hz screen to a 144Hz screen, and my results are identical. ~200 averages, I had one trail average that w/the 144Hz that was 185ms average, but that as anomalous. On display lag my monitor is listed at 10ms I believe. I also saw your top score listed on the site by the way, of 102ms I believe. How on earth did you get it that low? Just good reflexes? Practicing?
