PSX Longplay [204] Die Hard Trilogy: Die Hard (Part 1 of 3)

02:03:59
http://www.longplays.org Played by: Mad-Matt Quite an early game on the original playstation and it contains 3 completely different play styles. Once your lives are used up its game over, but you can pause and use the save game function to enable the ability to continue. I show the 3 Game over (fail) cinematic's at the end of the video. 00:00:00 Die Hard: I never liked and still don't like this first part of the game. It is way to long and just keeps rotating the same 4 or 5 maps. The controls are a little cumbersome which makes it look like Mclane is drunk the whole way through. I don't worry to much about the different weapons and the start, but later on the machine guns help greatly. The Explosive shotgun can be very annoying as it is way to easy to hit the hostages, and I could find no drop weapon function. 02:04:40 Die Harder This is the best part of the game and the whole reason it was bought and makes use of lightgun (Pad play is shown here). It's on rails with some great music. The game gets realy difficult near the church and snowski sections as it becomes far to easy to shoot the hostages and lots of stuff shooting at you at once. 02:54:20 Die Hard with a Vengeance Another section I never liked very much, but only because it has some really evil time limits which take you right down to the last millisecond as there is not much if any room for error, especially on later levels making the game very frustrating at times. In some levels, you can swap cars for different characteristics and mission suitability, but due to the above time issues, you can really waste time to do the car swap so I don't show this aspect often. One thing that stands out about this driving section is how smooth it can be and how colourful it is. Sure the cars have a low poly count but its 1996. This game makes driver which came out in 1999 look old. Also, another aspect which is probably not in many driving games, and never likely to be is the blood splatter in cockpit view. It makes quite a mess when running over a pedestrian and the wipers come on to clean it a way. This is what GTA should have been when it came to playstation Wink

Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza PC Game Review

06:23
Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza is a first-person shooter for Microsoft Windows. The game originally used a modified Build engine, later the GoldSrc engine, before it was finally moved to the Lithtech engine. The game features the voice of Reginald VelJohnson, reprising his role as Al Powell. The game is a first-person shooter that follows the plot of the first Die Hard film very well, almost word for word in dialogue, however additional elements are found in the game and not seen in the movie. Players take the role of John McClane, and try to stop the terrorist attack on the Nakatomi Plaza. The game's levels are based on the sets from the film. The various action scenes from the film have also been recreated. The game expands on the film's plot, and adds a few missions not found in the film, such as escorting a SWAT team around the building or saving various hostages stranded on various floors of the building. The game features standard first-person shooter gameplay. There are five different types of firearms, as well as items such as a Zippo lighter and a Motorola radio that can be used to accomplish various tasks.

Die Hard Trilogy - Die Hard

09:11
Would you believe I got this game when I was twelve? Well...actually, I bet you can, considering how little kids are playing Grand Theft Auto and crap these days. Anyway, Die Hard Trilogy is basically three games in one, with each game loosely following the storyline of one of the Die Hard movies. Die Hard has you in a third-person shooting game, Die Harder has you playing a light gun game, and Die Hard with a Vengeance is a driving game. While this game is extremely repetitive and the AI is crap, I still find it quite fun to play. It looked quite killer back in 1996, when it first came out.

Die Hard Trilogy - Gameplay (PS1)

17:34
This is gameplay from all three parts of Die Hard Trilogy for the PlayStation. Die Hard: 0:00 Die Hard 2: Die Harder: 7:36 Die Hard With a Vengeance: 13:55 Die Hard, in my opinion, is the best action movie series of all-time. They are extremely well-written, well-acted, and well produced, they are also hilarious yet serious when they need to be, they have great characters, and most of all, they are damned fun to watch. Twentieth Century Fox and the Die Hard movies arguably made Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman household names in the American film industry and raised the bar for what to expect from action films. In a nutshell, Die Hard is great. So great is Die Hard that it is kind of hard to imagine how such a fast-paced, beautiful series can possibly translate well into the early 32-bit era of consoles, which is pretty much synonymous these days with "slow and ugly". Keep in mind that this was an era in which arcades dominated, and consoles were just slowly beginning to make the leap to the third dimension. Games like Sega's Virtua Fighter, Virtua Cop and Daytona USA were roaring success stories, but that is because they had the powerful arcade hardware to back up their awesome 3D graphics. The Sony PlayStation and the Sega Saturn were not even close in terms of raw power, so their early 3D attempts have mostly aged terribly and can be chores to play these days. This, and the mostly-true notion that movie-based games tend to suck it hard are reason enough to be wary of Die Hard Trilogy. I mean, Probe Software did an excellent job with The Terminator on the Genesis, but could they really pull off Die Hard (all three of them) in 3D, on the PlayStation, no less? Somehow, they did, and damn, am I impressed. The controls are smooth, the framerate is solid, the particle effects are fantastic, transparencies are everywhere, almost everything that looks breakable is actually breakable, levels are large and visually impressive, and it's all excellent fun. Not only do each of the three Die Hard parts on the disk play well, but they look great and show off the 3D power of the PlayStation. Die Hard, the first part, is extremely loosely based on the original Die Hard movie. Third-Person Shooters were something of a rarity back in 1996, but DHT pulls it off very nicely with the PlayStation controller. John McClane (voiced by a surprisingly good Bruce Willis sound-alike) can run, strafe, roll from side to side, jump, shoot and throw grenades, and after adjusting to the PS1 controller, it's very easy to control. Essentially, McClane needs to fight through 20 floors of hundreds of East German terrorists (wait, weren't there only 12 terrorists in the movie...?), saving hostages as he goes, and there is an extremely minor penalty for shooting them. John literally says "Oops!" is he accidentally shoots one of them. Still, it's great fun and there is quite a bit of environmental interactivity for a PS1 game. Die Hard 2: Die Harder is a shameless ripoff of Sega's Virtua Cop, but it definitely one-ups VC in terms of destructible scenery and gore. "M"-rated games were not very common in 1996, but DHT really deserves it. Once again, you only lose points for shooting innocent civilians. This is also the hardest of the three parts, if you ask me, at least if you are playing with the PS1 controller and not a light gun or a mouse. Die Hard With a Vengeance is a driving game that reminds me a lot of Reflections' Driver games. Essentially, it's Driver if Driver was balls-out and stupid. McClane and Zeus go from destination to destination in a free-roaming 3D recreation of New York City, "disarming" bombs by, uh, driving into them...? Which still explode anyways right under the car...? Okay... There are also power-ups for points, nitrous boosts, time extensions, bombs that, um, launch the car into the air to avoid obstacles, and my personal favorite, the EMS truck power-up. If you watch the video, you'll understand why. Of course, all of of this is enhanced by the campy one-liners of McClane and Zeus, who sounds nothing at all like Samuel L. Jackson but is still a hilarious angry, screaming black man. Yes, Die Hard Trilogy is stupid, corny, and shamelessly gory, but it is still a damn good game. I like it almost as much as Die Hard Arcade. It's a great movie-based game with good variety, humor, graphics and gameplay, and an awesome game in general. If I have any complaints, they are that the draw distance for the first part is worse than that of Nights into Dreams on the Saturn (that game is still awesome, though) and that despite the "M"-rating, John McClane never says the full, uncensored "Yippee-ki-yay..." line. Okay, so running over innocent pedestrians and wiping the blood off your stolen taxi with windshield wipers is cool with the ESRB, but dropping the f-bomb a few times isn't? Still, this is an awesome game that more than lives up to the Die Hard name. Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker! :D

PC Engine Longplay [158] Die Hard

37:49
http://www.longplays.org Played by: JagOfTroy A move-based video game that actually follows the movie and doesn't suck? That is absurd! A decent shooter with a good plethora of weapons, enemies and stages. There are a few mazes though on the time-based levels which does increase the difficulty as you'll find yourself going in circles with the clock ticking down. Very enjoyable game that was sadly not ported in English or any other console that I am aware of.

Gameplay and reviews of all Die Hard video games based on the classic original movie; including firm PlayStation favourite Die Hard Trilogy, to more obscure titles on MS DOS and PC Engine. There's a nice selection of genres on offer with a huge variation in quality and how much they stick to the source material. Off duty cop John McLane's epic chance face off against a truck load of bad guys in the high rise Nakotomi Plaza's a classic I never tire of. Here are the 6 titles in chronological order: Die Hard on MSDOS by Dynamix in 1989, Die Hard PC Engine 1990 by Nihon Bussan, Die Hard NES 1991 from Pack In Video, Die Hard Arcade 1996 Sega, Die Hard Trilogy on PlayStation from Probe released the same year, and Die Hard Nakotomi Plaza from Piranha Games in 2002. I actually run through them from worst to best alongside comparisons to the film, so sit back, relax and see which of them are still worth playing today! Cheating my way through the (not the best of all) end of this 1989 hard game from Activision. A DOS exclusive. Played on DOSBox in Tandy/PCjr/EGA mode (best config). The sound is from PC Speaker (only option). The best ending, obtained only if you're lucky enough to not shoot the girl at the end battle, only have a different 'jpg' on the end, with the hero hugging his hife.

Die Hard Trilogy (PS1) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

03:24:21
A playthrough of Fox Interactive's 1996 action game for the Sony PlayStation, Die Hard Trilogy. Each of the three game modes have been played through to a 100% compete rating. They are shown at the following times: 1:18 Die Hard (third-person shooter) 1:40:45 Die Hard 2: Die Harder (light-gun shooter) 2:26:45 Die Hard with a Vengeance (racing) 3:18:05 The most ludicrously epic final battle of all-time Playing DHT, even more than Final Fantasy VII a year later, was a watershed moment for me. Playing it in 1996, Die Hard Trilogy really made me feel like I was playing on a "32-bit" next-gen system. Unlike any game before it, Die Hard Trilogy really harnessed the power of the newer hardware to deliver a game that simply wasn't possible on earlier platforms. And even better, despite the fact that it is actually three entirely separately games (and anyone that knows games knows that this is typically a sign of bad things to come), each from totally different genres, it's one of the best games of its generation ever released. Not only did Probe's (the developer) prowess with the hardware surpass titles from years later with super fluid, high quality graphics (just check out the details and the variety of objects in the tower offices, or the high-resolution textures used for faces in Die Harder), but each of the games were among the best that their respective genres had to offer at the time. The PlayStation version is the original, but the game was ported to the Sega Saturn and the PC. However, the PlayStation version is still the best one, with a fluidity that cannot be matched by the Saturn, and showing many effects that are missing from the PC version (despite its better framerate and higher available resolutions through DirectX). The window transparencies in part one are particularly telling. Look at the PS1 and the PC versions and compare them for yourself - the differences in some places are pretty dramatic. Finally, the sheer amount of graphic violence on display is pretty staggering. Seeing a child vaporize in the explosion of a car bomb, or turning an innocent bystander into a literal mist of blood with a shotgun blast has rarely been this visceral. The wipers coming on to wipe splatters of pedestrians from the windscreen in Die Hard With a Vengeance was a particularly nice touch. And to think, Lieberman's Mortal Kombat/Night Trap crusade was just a few short years before this game's release. Die Hard Trilogy isn't just one of my favorite PS1 games. It's among my favorite games of all-time. For the love of god, if you haven't played it - help yourself. Play it. You will feel more whole as a result ;D _____ No cheats were used during the recording of this video. A playthrough of Pack-in-Video's 1990 Japanese-exclusive license-based run-and-gun action game for the PC Engine, Die Hard (ダイハード). Since this is a Japanese game, I recorded this using Spinner 8 and DarknessSavior's English translation patch. Die Hard for the PC Engine (the Japanese name for the TurboGrafx-16) for some reason never made its way to the US, despite Die Hard being an American movie, and it's a shame. The PC Engine game certainly pulls off a good Bloody Wolf/Final Zone 2-style shooter that I personally prefer quite a bit over the (still enjoyable) NES Die Hard game. It's nowhere near as faithful to the film as the NES game was - I mean, seriously, why is he wandering around in a swamp? - but there's some fun, excessively macho dialogue, and the action is much smoother and easier to control than the NES game was. It's also a lot more straightforward; except for the annoying maze level, the level design closer to Heavy Barrel than it is to True Lies. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Even if it really doesn't bear any resemblance to the movie, it's more than good enough to warrant a play. I know I'm stretching the Christmas theme with this one since nothing in the game gives any hint of festivities, unless you count the fancy reinterpretation of Ode to Joy at the ending screen, but still, it's based on Die Hard. Die Hard takes place a Christmastime, so I figure I'm covered. Hope you enjoy it! Happy trails, and happy holidays! _ No cheats were used during the recording of this video. Die Hard (NES) HD Complete Walkthrough (Best Ending)

29:24
EXPERIMENTAL: For the first time, I managed to record a walkthrough in HD, but I had to sacrifice video quality for it. I'd like to know from you which encoding is better, the HD version or the old one. I'll read your thoughts before taking a decision for the next video, so feel free to write a comment here or via Twitter ( VariousFor ), thanks! (From Wiki) Die Hard is a video game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (1991) and Commodore 64 (1990) by Activision (not to be confused with the earlier DOS video game created by Dynamix in 1989). Its gameplay is based on the 1988 movie Die Hard. During the game, the player rescues hostages and battles with terrorists from a top view perspective at Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles. Plot John McClane decides to visit his wife Holly in Nakatomi Plaza, only to discover that she is taken hostage on the 30th floor, along with a number of other hostages. The terrorist leader, Hans Gruber, is after the money locked away in a safe on the 30th floor. His hacker, Theo, is slowly breaking the locks into the vault. McClane decides to fight the terrorists on his own, ascending the building as he does so. Gameplay There are 40 terrorists scattered throughout the building, and John McClane's task is to clear each floor of terrorists, and he can then use the stairwell or the express elevator to travel upwards, to a maximum of floors 31-35 (more floors are unlocked in "Advanced" mode). In addition, by shooting at grids in the wall, John is able to climb in the vents, dropping into a designated spot or moving down or up a floor. At the start of the game, the player character can only use a pistol (with 15 bullets) and his fists to dispose of enemies, but later acquires several weapons, such as submachine guns, explosives and flashbangs which the terrorists can also use. When McClane is shot, a few picked up items can drop where he must pick them up again. However, bullets have minimal range, only shooting straight or on a 45 degree angle. McClane's health, which is drained by bullet wounds, can be restored by collecting soda cans from either enemies, snack machines (by shooting several bullets at them) or empty rooms. The player loses the game when all life is lost. The player has about four minutes before one of the six locks are opened, but can gain more time by destroying the main computer on the fifth level. Once all the locks have been opened, the vault is opened and the game's final battle is triggered. The player has only a few minutes to go to the 30th floor, for a final confrontation with Karl, Hans, and any of the 40 terrorists left alive. One interesting aspect of the game allows the player to listen to Hans shouting orders to his guards through a two-way radio. However, after the second lock is opened, Hans will tell everyone to not use the radio. Also notable is the "foot meter". The meter starts out full, but will eventually decrease if the player character steps on shattered glass or runs around. If the meter becomes empty, McClane will walk much slower than he does when the foot meter is full. It can be restored by collecting med-kits. The game features cinematic sequences, which change the story depending on which actions the player takes. For example, if there is fewer than one minute left, and the player defeats Karl, the last scene with John and Holly will tell the player the roof has been destroyed by the helicopter sent by Hans. Version differences The Nintendo Entertainment System version of the game is played from a top-down perspective, as opposed to the 1st-/3rd-person perspective seen on the Commodore 64 and DOS ports. Reception Author Andy Slaven commented that the video game didn't do the film justice, calling the overall experience average. Source: Wikipedia

PSX Longplay #38: Die Hard Trilogy

03:37:28
Die Hard Trilogy is a video game based on the first three installments of the Die Hard series of action movies. Die Hard Trilogy features three games in one, each based on a movie installment and featuring a different genre and game play style respectively. The game was well received and would eventually become a Sony Greatest Hits game. The disc has audio tracks that can be played on a standard CD player. Die Hard Trilogy also inspired a sequel entitled Die Hard Trilogy 2: Viva Las Vegas. The sequel retained the three different playing styles, but featured a spin-off storyline that was not connected to the movie series Die Hard: Die Hard is a third-person shooter. The player battles terrorists and rescues hostages in the Nakatomi Plaza, which is the setting of the first film in the series. Die Hard 2: Die Harder: Die Hard 2: Die Harder is presented as an on rails-shooter, where the player must stop terrorists who have taken over Dulles Airport from the second film. Players control the crosshair with a gamepad, light gun, or, on PC and Saturn, a mouse. Die Hard Trilogy was one of the few light gun games available for the PlayStation that was not compatible with Namco's GunCon/G-Con 45 controller or GunCon 2. However, it was compatible with Sega's stunner light gun for the Saturn version. Die Hard: With a Vengeance In Die Hard with a Vengeance, the player goes on a joyride driving a taxicab, sports car, and dump truck throughout all of New York City and is tasked with finding and defusing several explosives before they can go off.
