In this stream, sourced from Day 2 of our Animate CC launch on Twitch, Michael and I continue to finesse the work from the previous day and I begin creating the bulk of the sound effects/sound design that will be heard in the game itself. In between recording and editing, Michael works on a fun animation (even drawing the two of us, inserted as singing characters) using some of Mike Gaboury's character art. It's not necessarily a monster that you could use for anything, but with about 100 different examples of these and tiny beginnings and endings of screams with middle parts as well, you should have more than enough material to have Wwise or other tools randomize between it. If this was for a specific thing, I would have directed and instructed her differently, but that was the fun part here - recording the whole thing, but also getting completely random material and then seeing what could be done with it. And during the fast forward parts - don't mind my mouth movements - that's just my concentrated gamer face! everybody has one, don't deny it !

When you go invisible you can see that the music becomes softer and when you come out of it it ramps up quite loudly. Wizard Prison played the audio back as sound files which would allow me to do things such as vertical re orchestration. Where simultaneous music tracks played at the same time and I could fade one out, and fade another one in to reflect a change in the players "wizard state". So that certain rooms will have a little bit of wind or dropping rain sounds as the music dips down for a little bit of atmosphere. The music and all the sound effects were written by a couple students here. Karen McLaughlin and Glen Jackson who did a great job providing the audio soundscape I implemented the interactive features. I think it all came together pretty well. One my favorite projects here at Cogswell started out as a game in the game studio class. Since then we've taken this semester long project and turned it into a year-long team base project. I'm taking the responsibility of the sole programmer and I've also been involved with game design our assets and level design. Our team has been working on it for the entire year and aims to release on Steam Greenlight coming in 2014.
